From one illustration to a tiled poster
The original poster sample becomes four A4 pages at 39.5 cm wide with 5 mm margins and 5 mm overlap. Its finished height follows the source aspect ratio. Change the width or paper to see the page count update.
Paper size, overlap & quality
A4 is 210 × 297 mm. US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches. Margins reserve non-printable paper edges; overlap repeats image content at seams. The last row or column can contain white space to preserve the whole image. PDF export embeds the source once as a high-quality JPEG on white. This is a poster tool, not a calibrated 1:1 pattern-printing tool. Layouts are limited to 100 image pages.
Split Image for Printing FAQ
How do I print one image on multiple A4 pages?
Choose A4, enter the poster width, check the numbered layout, and download the PDF. Each PDF image page matches one sheet of paper.
Why should I avoid Fit to Page?
Fit to Page changes the scale of each tile. Choose 100% or Actual Size so the image and repeated seams align at the intended size.
What does overlap do?
Overlap repeats a strip of the image on the next page. Trim one copy of the repeated strip and align it with the neighboring page. The shaded preview edges show these repeated areas.
How big will the assembled poster be?
The summary shows the actual image width and height. It also shows the paper coverage, which may include white space on the final row or column. Margins and overlap reduce the usable width of each additional sheet.
What does effective DPI mean?
Effective DPI is source pixels divided by printed inches. Fewer pixels across a large poster can look soft. The value is a guide; this tool does not create extra detail.
Where are page numbers printed?
When enabled, page numbers appear in the bottom margin. Use a margin of at least 3 mm. The optional assembly guide adds one page before the image pages.
Can I print borderless?
That depends on your printer. Set margins to match its printable area, and use Actual Size. Zero margins do not make a printer support borderless printing.
